ENTITLEMENT TO WORK (VISA)

Your employees must have the right to work and live in Australia or else you, the employer, are liable for fines of up to $66 000 per illegal worker. It is an offence under the Migration Act 1958 to knowingly or recklessly allow an employee to work for you if they are in breach of their visa condition, or working in Australia illegally. Only Australian citizens, permanent residents and New Zealand citizens (with valid passport) are able to work in Australia without restriction, for all other cases appropriate visas must be held.

Fit2work can confirm through the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) a potential employee’s Australian citizenship and provide verification of Foreign National’s current visa status and their entitlement to work. We will also provide for you and the details of limitations attached with working visas, so you are aware under what circumstances visa holders can work for your organisation.
